Severe Thunderstorm Warning

At 2:31 p.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain. This severe thunderstorm is located near Ashburn, moving east at 10 km/h. Hazard: Heavy downpours with local rainfall amounts in excess of 50 mm and 90 km/h wind gusts. Locations impacted include: Ashburn, Prospect and Mount Carmel. ### Heavy rain may cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are expected to produce damaging hail, wind or rain.
Heat Warning
Issued: 8:53 AM Aug. 12, 2025 – Environment and Climate Change Canada
Multi-day heat event continues. What: Daytime highs of 32 to 35 degrees Celsius, with humidex values of 37 to 42. Overnight lows of 20 to 23 degrees Celsius. When: Continuing through today or possibly Wednesday for some areas. Additional information: A cooler air mass is expected to arrive tonight, bringing an end to this heat event. There is the possibility that eastern Ontario and the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area could see hot and humid conditions continue into Wednesday. Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can result in the Air Quality Health Index approaching the high risk category. ### Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
