Severe Weather Warning for Damaging Wind

For NORTHERN RANGES: Strong winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of around 90 km/h are possible from late Tuesday evening and continuing through Wednesday morning. Winds in this area ease around midday on Wednesday before redeveloping late Wednesday. For SOUTHERN and CENTRAL RANGES below 1900 metres from Katoomba and Braidwood: Strong winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of around 90 km/h are forecast from early Wednesday morning. For ALPINE AREAS in the western SNOWY MOUNTAINS and ACT: DAMAGING WINDS averaging 80 to 90 km/h with peak gusts of around 110 km/h are forecast from Wednesday evening above 1900 metres. DAMAGING WINDS averaging averaging 50 to 60 km/h with gusts to 90 km/h are possible below 1900 metres from late Wednesday. BLIZZARD conditions are possible above 1400 metres from Wednesday evening. The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service recommends that back country travel be postponed until conditions improve. Locations which may be affected include Goulburn, Katoomba, Braidwood, Ebor, Nowendoc, Barrington Tops, Thredbo Tops and Mt Ginini. 133 km/h wind gust recorded at Thredbo Top Station at 1:06 am. Sustained 80 km/h winds were recorded at Thredbo Top Station today from about 4am to 11am.
