Severe Weather Warning for Damaging Wind

DAMAGING NORTH TO NORTHWESTERLY WINDS averaging 65 to 75 km/h with peak gusts of around 110 km/h are likely over elevated parts of the warning area for the rest of the night. Damaging winds are forecast to ease below warning thresholds during Monday morning. Locations which may be affected include Falls Creek, Dargo, Mt Baw Baw, Mt Hotham, Mt Buller and Omeo. Severe weather is no longer occurring in the Central, South West and North Central districts and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED. Significant observations in the 12 hours to 9:00 pm: Sustained 70 km/h winds have been recorded at Mt Hotham since 6:00 pm with a 109 km/h wind gust at 2:29 pm. Sustained 65 km/h winds were recorded at Kilmore Gap around 4:30 pm. Sustained 65 km/h winds were recorded at Mt Buller around 3:30 pm with a 102 km/h wind gust at 3:22 pm. Sustained 65 km/h winds were recorded at Melbourne Airport around 3:15 pm. 91 km/h wind gust was recorded at Falls Creek Airport at 3:15 pm. 111 km/h wind gust was recorded at Mt Gellibrand at 11:31 am. 113 km/h wind gust was recorded at Mt William at 11:07 am. 94 km/h wind gust was recorded at South Channel Island at 10:36 am. 91 km/h wind gust was recorded at Avalon Airport at 10:10 am. 102 km/h wind gust was recorded at Sheoaks at 9:48 am.
