DAMAGING WINDS averaging about 65 to 80 km/h with peak gusts of around 100 km/h are occurring about Alpine areas above 1400 m. Above 1900 m, wind gusts may reach about 110 km/h.
Winds are expected to ease later today.
BLIZZARD conditions are expected to continue over alpine areas above 1400 m today. The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service recommends that back country travel be postponed until conditions improve.
Locations which may be affected include Mount Ginini, Thredbo, Perisher Valley, Charlotte Pass, Cabramurra and Selwyn.
Sustained winds around 80 km/h have been recorded at Thredbo Top Station at times since 2:30 pm Monday.
