VERY DANGEROUS THUNDERSTORMS are likely to produce heavy, locally intense rainfall that may lead to dangerous and life-threatening flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Murwillumbah, Byron Bay, Mullumbimby, Brunswick Heads, Hastings Point and Numinbah. 48 mm was recorded at Bellingen in the 30 minutes to 4:48 pm. 88 mm was recorded at Belongil Creek Bridge in the hour to 01:00 am.

Severe Heatwave Watch

Maximum temperatures are in the mid to high thirties and overnight minimum temperatures in the mid teens to mid twenties. Heatwave conditions are expected to continue to contract to the northeast of the State over the coming days.
Severe heatwave conditions have eased about the southern coastal areas and the central ranges. Maximum temperatures are in the mid to high twenties with overnight minimum temperatures ranging from around ten degrees across the central ranges to the mid teens closer to the coast. Low intensity heatwave conditions may still affect these areas over the coming days.
