Severe Weather Warning for Damaging Wind
Issued: 8:32 AM Jul. 7, 2025 – Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology
DAMAGING WINDS averaging 50 to 65 km/h with peak gusts of around 100 km/h are occurring over southern coastal areas between Windy Harbour and Israelite Bay. These winds are expected to ease from the west this evening, with conditions over the South East Coastal district expected to ease by the early hours of Tuesday morning.
This weather is typical for this time of year, although this will be the windiest front of the year so far.
Locations which may be affected include Albany, Esperance, Mount Barker, Israelite Bay, Walpole and Bremer Bay.
Severe weather is no longer occurring in the Goldfields, Central West, Lower West and Central Wheat Belt districts and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED.
91 km/h wind gust was recorded at Dumbleyung at 2:13pm
94 km/h wind gust was recorded at Southern Cross Airfield at 2:07pm
94 km/h wind gust was recorded at Rottnest Island at 11:14am
Sustained winds of 63 km/h were recorded at Ocean Reef around 9am
