The National Weather Service in Shreveport has extended the * Flash Flood Warning for... Southeastern Cass County in northeastern Texas... Northern Cherokee County in northeastern Texas... Southern Gregg County in northeastern Texas... Harrison County in northeastern Texas... Marion County in northeastern Texas... Panola County in northeastern Texas... Rusk County in northeastern Texas... Southeastern Smith County in northeastern Texas... * Until 145 AM CDT. * At 1124 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain has begun to move out of the warned area. Between 3 and 6 inches of rain have fallen since late this afternoon. Additional rainfall amounts up to a half inch are possible in the warned area through 145 AM. Numerous roads are flooded with high, swift moving water across Southern Smith and Northern Cherokee Counties, with additional rises on area creeks and streams expected, which may result in additional flooding across the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Longview, Marshall, Jacksonville, Henderson, Kilgore, Whitehouse, Carthage, Rusk, Hallsville, Overton, Bullard, Waskom, Jefferson, Troup, Tatum, New London, Arp, Beckville, Pinehill and Joinerville. ...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 AM CDT THURSDAY... * WHAT...Urban areas and small streams flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of northeast Texas, including the following counties, western Gregg, northwestern Harrison, western Marion, Smith, Upshur and southeastern Wood. * WHEN...Until 500 AM CDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1053 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated that heavy rain has ended across the warned area, although periods of light rain may persist until around or shortly after midnight. However, flooding is already occurring in portions of the warned area. Between 2 and 5+ inches of rain have fallen since late this afternoon. - Flooding impacts will continue, but only light amounts of rain is expected through 5 AM Thursday. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Low-water crossings may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Showers and thunderstorms will continue to move repeatedly over much of the Watch area tonight, where widespread rainall amounts of two to in excess of six inches has fallen.
