Special Weather Statement
Issued: 1:36 PM Dec. 25, 2025 – National Weather Service
...POTENTIAL FOR HEAVY SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW LATE FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY... Snow will overspread Kodiak Island tonight, then gradually change to rain during the day Friday as temperatures rise above freezing. Snow accumulation of 1 to 4 inches is expected across the island. Colder air will then move back in sometime Friday night or Saturday morning, depending on the proximity of a low tracking east of Kodiak Island. Strong and gusty northerly winds will accompany the colder air. This will lead to the potential for both heavy snow and blowing snow with significantly reduced visibilities. There is also the possibility that temperatures warm up too much and limit the amount of snow and extent of blowing snow. Stay tuned to forecast updates at www.weather.gov/anchorage.
