Issued: 10:31 AM Jan. 21, 2025 – Environment and Climate Change Canada
Lake effect snow squalls continue today.

What:
Heavy lake effect snow with additional accumulations of 15 to 25 cm, particularly over the southern part of Prince Edward County.
Reduced visibility, near zero at times, in heavy snow and blowing snow.

When:
Continuing through this evening.

Additional information:
Lake effect snow off Lake Ontario will continue today. Locations from Sandbanks to Milford and south should see the highest snowfall amounts. In addition, westerly winds gusting up to 60 km/h will result in significantly reduced visibility in blowing snow. Snow squalls will shift south of the region after midnight.

###

Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations.
