...AIR QUALITY ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM PDT THIS EVENING...

The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has issued an
Air Quality Advisory, which is IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM PDT THIS
EVENING.

An Air Quality Advisory for Ozone has been issued. High levels of
ozone in the lower atmosphere in the region combined with forecasted
conditions will cause air quality to reach unhealthy levels at times
through 8 PM PDT this evening.

Pollutants can cause burning eyes, runny nose, aggravate heart and
lung diseases, and aggravate other serious health problems. Limit
outdoor activities and keep children indoors if it is smoky. Please
follow medical advice if you have a heart or lung condition.

...EXTREME HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM PDT THIS
EVENING...

* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with temperatures of 97 to 102
degrees. Tuesday morning temperatures of 68 to 73 degrees from
Salem northward, and 60 to 63 degrees south of Salem.

* WHERE...Greater Portland/Vancouver Metro, Western and Central
Columbia River Gorge, the Corbett area and the Hood River Valley,
Central and Southern Willamette Valley, and Foothills of the
Northern and Central Oregon Cascades.

* WHEN...Until 10 PM PDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat events.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Overnight conditions will begin to cool on
Tuesday night into Wednesday.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in a cool place during the heat of the
day, stay out of the sunshine, and check up on relatives and
neighbors. For those without air conditioning, use fans to keep air
moving. Keeps windows closed during the day and open at night,
unless air quality is degraded due to wildfire smoke.

Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car
interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
