...HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM PST WEDNESDAY... * WHAT...South winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected. * WHERE...Del Norte and Northern Humboldt Coast. * WHEN...Until 9 AM PST Wednesday. Winds are expected to peak around midnight just ahead of the rain. * IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Wind gusts will be particularly strong along windward ridges and exposed coastal headlands. There is an increased risk of tree branches and other debris on roadways. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... High winds can topple trees which can be deadly. Avoid being under trees during the highest winds. Postpone travel until lighter winds. Remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Watch for falling debris and tree limbs. Use caution if you must drive. &&

Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Up to one foot of saltwater inundation above ground level is possible near shorelines and tidal waterways. Between 9.0 and 9.3 feet MLLW at the North Spit tide gauge is predicted. For the Coastal Flood Watch, Up to one foot of saltwater inundation above ground level is possible in low lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. Between 9.0 and 9.5 feet MLLW at the North Spit tide gauge is predicted. * WHERE...Northern Humboldt Coast County. This includes King Salmon, the Arcata Bottoms and areas right on the waterfront in Eureka. * WHEN...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, from 9 AM to noon PST Wednesday. For the Coastal Flood Watch, from Thursday morning through Thursday afternoon. High tide is at 10:37 AM at the Humboldt Bay North Spit tide gauge Wednesday and at 11:17 AM on Thursday. Saltwater inundation will be possible 1 to 2 hours before and after high tide. * IMPACTS...Several coastal roads may be closed. Low lying property and some critical infrastructure will be inundated.
