...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT FROM SUNDAY MORNING THROUGH TUESDAY EVENING... * WHAT...Minor coastal flooding due to high astronomical tides of 7 to 7.5 feet and surf to 3 to 5 feet. * WHERE...San Diego County coastal areas and Orange County coastal areas. * WHEN...From late Sunday morning through Tuesday evening. * IMPACTS...Areas of flooding from tidal overflow in low lying areas, boardwalks, beach parking lots, and beach adjacent streets. Beach erosion. Highest impacts expected during high tides in the late afternoons into the evening. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A 3 foot south swell (from 190 degrees) at 13-15 seconds will lead to surf 3-5 feet at south-facing beaches. Elsewhere, surf of 2-4 feet is expected. Forecast high tides at La Jolla, CA: Sun, Jul 12: 7.00 ft at 8:01 PM PDT Mon, Jul 13: 7.17 ft at 8:51 PM PDT Tue, Jul 14: 7.11 ft at 9:40 PM PDT PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Avoid beaches and low-lying coastal areas during high tides. Waves will run farther up the beach than expected during high and increasing tides; don't turn your back on the ocean and avoid rock jetties.
