...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 800 PM CDT
FOR NORTHWESTERN JACKSON AND SOUTHEASTERN DUBUQUE COUNTIES...

At 746 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near La Motte, or 10
miles southwest of Galena, moving east at 45 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to
roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include...
La Motte, St. Donatus, Zwingle, Spruce Creek Park, and Smiths.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM CDT for northwestern
Illinois...and northeastern and east central Iowa.

Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside
should move to a shelter, inside a strong building and away from
windows.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Jackson County in east central Iowa...

South Central Dubuque County in northeastern Iowa...
South Central Jo Daviess County in northwestern Illinois...

* Until 1115 PM CDT.

* At 712 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain
have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Maquoketa, Bellevue, Hanover, Elizabeth, Andrew, La Motte, Onslow,
Monmouth, Springbrook, St. Donatus, Zwingle, Spragueville, Fulton,
Hurstville, Nashville, Green Island, Canton, Van Buren, Rice and
Baldwin.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
