...SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM CHST TUESDAY... * WHAT...Northeast winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 30 kt and seas 8 to 10 feet. * WHERE...Marianas Coastal Waters. * WHEN...Until 5 PM ChST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Conditions will be hazardous to small craft. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The trade swell and wind waves generated by the trade-wind surge east of the Marianas, and a weak northerly swell moving through the area, will continue to support 10 foot seas through Tuesday. Seas and winds are expected to subside slightly Tuesday night through Thursday, but could rebuild late in the week if a developing circulation in eastern Micronesia, 90W, lifts towards the Marianas. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller vessels, should avoid boating in hazardous conditions. &&

...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Dangerous rip currents. * WHERE...East facing reefs of the Marianas. * WHEN...Through Wednesday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The trade-wind surge is expected to weaken near the Marianas Tuesday, however, the trade swell will remain elevated due to stronger winds north of Pohnpei and Kosrae. This will continue the high risk of rip currents through at least Wednesday afternoon and possibly longer as a circulation develops near Pohnpei. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Rip currents will be life threatening. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help. &&
