Severe Weather Warning for Damaging Wind
Issued: 11:46 PM Aug. 29, 2025 – Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology
For the GIPPSLAND COAST: DAMAGING SOUTHWESTERLY WINDS averaging 55 to 65 km/h with gusts up to 100 km/h are likely to continue throughout the morning, before easing about the West and South Gippsland coast around midday and easing over the remainder of the coast by mid-afternoon.
For the EASTERN RANGES: DAMAGING SOUTHWESTERLY WINDS averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts around 100 km/h have been observed and expected to continue during Saturday morning, before easing during the early afternoon.
BLIZZARD conditions are forecast for parts of the eastern ranges above 1200 m until the early afternoon.
Locations which may be affected include Orbost, Falls Creek, Mansfield, Dargo, Mt Baw Baw, Mallacoota, Mt Hotham, Mt Buller and Omeo.
Severe weather is no longer occurring in the South West and Northern Country districts and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED.

Sheep Graziers Warning

Sheep graziers are warned that cold temperatures, showers and southwesterly winds are expected during Saturday. Areas likely to be affected include the Northern Country, North Central, North East, South West, Central, West and South Gippsland and East Gippsland forecast districts and parts of the Wimmera forecast district. There is a risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions.
