... Wind Advisory remains in effect until 9 am PDT Tuesday...

* winds and timing... west to northwest winds 15 to 25 mph with
gusts to 35 mph will develop this afternoon, strongest near
the coast. Areas of north winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 40
mph are expected tonight and early Tuesday, strongest below
passes and canyons from Malibu to the Hollywood Hills, and
through western portions of Los Angeles.

* Impacts... cross winds can make driving difficult, especially
for drivers of high profile vehicles and vehicles towing
trailers.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

When driving, use extra caution. Be prepared for sudden gusty
cross winds.





Beach Hazard Statement

... Beach hazards statement in effect through Wednesday
afternoon...

The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard has issued a
beach hazards statement for elevated surf and high risk of rip
currents, which is in effect through Wednesday afternoon.

* Hazards... dangerous rip currents and sneaker waves are
expected on west facing beaches due to elevated and strong
surf of 3 to 6 feet.

* Impacts... there is an increased risk for ocean drowning. Rip
currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Sneaker waves
can suddenly wash people off of beaches and rock jetties.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A beach hazards statement is issued when threats such as rip
currents... longshore currents... sneaker waves and other hazards
create life-threatening conditions in the surf zone. Caution
should be used when in or near the water.
