Issued: 11:49 AM MDT Apr. 28, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from midnight tonight
to 3 am MDT Sunday...

* snow accumulations... could be significant with 6 to 18 inches
over portions of northeast New Mexico and the Sangre de Cristo
Mountains.

* Timing... snow will become heavier and more widespread late
Friday night through Saturday, then taper off late Saturday
evening.

* Winds... north 25 to 35 mph with gusts to around 45 mph
Saturday.

* Snow levels... snow levels will fall rapidly early Saturday
morning so temperatures will quickly become cold enough for
snow at all locations.

* Local impacts... travel may become hazardous or impossible over
portions of northeast New Mexico Saturday, especially on
Interstate 25 in the Raton Pass area, and highways 64 and 87
from Raton to Clayton and Interstate 40 near Clines Corners and
Sedillo Hill.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow and blowing snow means
severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring.
Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel
dangerous. Strong winds are likely. Only travel in an emergency.
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.
