Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Watch
Issued: 4:36 AM EDT Apr. 25, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flood Watch remains in effect until 8 am EDT this morning...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of north central North Carolina and Virginia,
including the following areas, in north central North
Carolina, Caswell, Rockingham, and Stokes. In Virginia,
Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, Botetourt, Campbell, Charlotte,
Franklin, Halifax, Henry, Patrick, Pittsylvania, Roanoke, and
Rockbridge.

* Until 8 am EDT this morning.

* Light to moderate rain will continue this morning. Additional
rainfall should be less than an inch, however this additional
rainfall will pose a continued flood risk, especially for poor
drainage areas.

* In addition to the flood threat, the combination of saturated
ground and a strong northeasterly wind may result in downed
trees.

* The rain will gradually subside this morning. This will allow
small streams to recede this afternoon. However, runoff will
continue to pose problems along some of the main Stem rivers
with river flooding likely along the Dan River which may last
for the next several days.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current rainfall forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
