Watches & Warnings

Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 3:01 PM EDT Sep. 29, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch now in effect through Friday afternoon...

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* portions of Delaware and northeast Maryland... including the
following areas... in Delaware... Delaware beaches... inland
Sussex... Kent and New Castle. In northeast Maryland...
Caroline... Cecil... Kent MD... Queen Annes and Talbot.

* Through Friday afternoon

* heavy rainfall associated with low pressure will affect the area
through Friday. The heaviest rains will taper off after daybreak
Friday. Widespread 2 to 3 inch rain totals are expected with
isolated amounts around 6 inches possible near the coast. These
rainfall totals are capable of producing flooding across the
watch area. If these rainfall totals are realized, storm total
rainfall across eastern Sussex County Delaware could be close to
12 inches. This will lead to widespread flooding issues in that
area.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
