Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Watch
Issued: 2:47 PM EST Feb. 25, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flood Watch remains in effect through Sunday evening...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of east central Maine, eastern Maine, interior
downeast Maine, and north central Maine, including the
following areas, in east central Maine, central Penobscot. In
eastern Maine, northern Washington. In interior downeast
Maine, central Washington, interior Hancock, and southern
Penobscot. In north central Maine, central Piscataquis and
southern Piscataquis.

* Through Sunday evening

* forecast river rises may be enough to break ice on the
Piscataquis River and tributaries in southern Piscataquis
County. Similar rises in the Penobscot river basin in southern
Penobscot County have potential to break up ice locally. Any
ice movement means ice jams and sudden flooding is possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
