Watches & Warnings

Excessive Heat Warning
Issued: 3:26 PM CDT Jul. 23, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Excessive heat warning remains in effect until 7 PM CDT this
evening...

* temperatures will be in the mid to upper 90s through the
remainder of the afternoon and early evening hours. Humidity
will combine with the heat and produce index values from 100 to
105 degrees.

* Impacts: the high heat indicies will result in a dangerous
situation for sensitive groups... children... the elderly... or
those with medical conditions. Leaving a child or pet in an
enclosed vehicle can be deadly... even for a short time.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

An excessive heat warning means that a prolonged period of
dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of hot
temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous
situation in which heat illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of
fluids... stay in an air-conditioned room... stay out of the sun...
and check up on relatives and neighbors.
