... High wind watch in effect from Tuesday morning through Tuesday
evening...

The National Weather Service in Lubbock has issued a high wind
watch, which is in effect from late Tuesday morning through early
Tuesday evening.

* Timing... strong westerly winds will develop by late Tuesday
morning and then should subside early Tuesday evening.

* Winds... west winds from 30 to 40 mph with gusts to 58 mph are
possible.

* Impacts... strong Crosswinds will impact travel for north to
south highways in particular. Small cars and large trucks will
be most impacted. Also, areas of blowing dust may reduce
visibility locally under a mile.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A high wind watch means there is the potential for a hazardous
high wind event. Sustained winds of at least 40 mph... or gusts of
58 mph or more may occur. Continue to monitor the latest
forecasts.




Fire Weather Watch
Issued: 3:45 PM CST Feb. 26, 2017 – National Weather Service

... A Fire Weather Watch is in effect from late Tuesday morning
through early Tuesday evening for the Texas South Plains... southern
Texas Panhandle... and most of the rolling plains for 20 foot
winds of 20 mph or more... relative humidities of 15 percent or
less and a high fire danger...

The National Weather Service in Lubbock has issued a Fire Weather
Watch, which is in effect from late Tuesday morning through early
Tuesday evening.

* Wind... 20 foot level winds from the west at 25 to 35 mph with
gusts to 50 mph or more.

* Humidity... near 15 percent.

* Fuels... dry.

* Impacts... any fires that develop can spread rapidly. Outdoor
burning is discouraged.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions
are forecast to occur. Monitor later forecasts and possible red
flag warnings.
