The National Weather Service in Mobile has issued a high surf
advisory, which is in effect until midnight CST tonight.

* Where... Gulf beaches of Alabama and northwest Florida.

* Waves and surf... increasing to 4 to 6 feet.

* Timing... today and early tonight.

* Impacts... frequent life-threatening rip currents are expected.
The surf is dangerous for all levels of swimmers...

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

There is a high risk of rip currents. Rip currents are life-
threatening to anyone entering the surf. Swim near a lifeguard.
If caught in a rip current remain calm. Don't fight the current.
Swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape,
face the shore and call or wave for help. If tired, float or
tread water until out of the rip current.

A high surf advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area, producing localized beach erosion and
dangerous swimming conditions.

Sunday.

* Timing... noon CST Saturday to 6 am CST Sunday.

* Winds... south Saturday afternoon shifting to northwest Saturday
night, around 20 to 25 mph with frequent higher gusts to around
30 mph.

* Impacts... loose light weight objects can be blown around.
Dangerous driving conditions for high profile vehicles.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that winds of 25 to 39 mph or frequent
gusts of 30 to 39 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make
driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use
extra caution. The strong winds can also blow around loose light-
weight outdoor objects. Ensure these items are secured.
