Areal Flood Advisory

The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a

* flood advisory for...
northeastern Lake County in east central Florida...
western Volusia County in east central Florida...

* until 430 PM EDT.

* At 228 PM EDT, numerous showers and thunderstorms were leading to
heavy rain, with up to one to inches of rain so far. Additional
storms reforming over the area will lead to another one to inches
of rain over the next 60 to 90 minutes. This will cause minor
flooding in the advisory area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Deland, Pierson, Barberville, deleon Springs and Paisley.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.

Brevard... Orange and northeastern Osceola counties until 345 PM
EDT...

At 237 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
an outflow boundary extending from 11 miles east of Playalinda Beach
to 6 miles west of Titusville to near Wekiwa Springs State Park.
Movement was south at 30 mph. Additional storms may develop as the
outflow advances quickly southward.

Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph will be possible with these storms.

Locations impacted include...
Orlando, Kissimmee, Titusville, Apopka and Altamonte Springs.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
