Surprise Volcano Flow Forces Evacuations In Philippines

Massive amounts of ash spewed from the Mayon volcano in the Philippines, blanketing more than 87 villages across three towns over the weekend. The sudden pyroclastic flow of rocks, ash and gas sent people fleeing, and hundreds of families had to stay away from their homes. The 8,000-foot volcano is the most active of two dozen volcanoes in the Philippines, and there have been mild eruptions since January.
