Over A Foot Of Snow Possible In Northeast

Today is the last day to prepare across the Northeast as the snow will begin to move in from the southwest tonight. The heaviest snow will fall on Sunday, with snow changing over to a freezing rain and sleet mix along the I-95 corridor from Washington and Baltimore up to Philadelphia and even New York City. However, 8-12 inches is still expected at these major hubs despite the chance for ice. A wide swath of 12-18 inches of snow will be possible for areas that see all snow and no mix, and this includes Boston. Get your hour-by-hour forecast and the latest snow and ice totals here.

Look: Heavy Snow Across Texas, Oklahoma

Winter Storm Fern is dumping heavy snow across Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas, transforming communities that rarely see winter weather like this. Arctic air crashed into the South overnight, dropping temperatures 20 to 30 degrees below normal and turning freezing rain into several inches of snow. Some areas are measuring 4 to 8 inches of snow — more than they'd typically see in an entire year. The storm is expected to continue bringing dangerous conditions through the weekend.

Deep South Experiencing Snow, Dangerous Ice Accumulation

Winter Storm Fern is bringing heavy snow and widespread icing to the Deep South. Snow accumulations have already topped 5 inches in parts of Arkansas. All precipitation types will be possible, as rain will change over to freezing rain, sleet and then eventually snow from north to south. High ice accumulations are developing across the South, including Shreveport and Little Rock. Tree damage and power outages are likely, and travel is becoming extremely difficult to impossible this weekend. Click here for your latest snow and ice forecasts.
