Severe storms unleashed chaos across Kansas, triggering flash flood warnings in Wichita and El Dorado, where people were trapped in their homes and cars were submerged in rising waters. As the storm pushed northeast toward Kansas City, it brought tornado warnings and powerful winds strong enough to flip semi-trucks.
Air quality alerts are still in effect for parts of Minnesota, Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan on Tuesday as a thick plume of smoke is expected to impact air quality. The air could become unhealthy to very unhealthy for everyone in places like Minneapolis, Duluth, La Crosse and Eau Claire. It’s recommended to avoid outdoor activities if you live in this region, especially if you have respiratory issues. Smoke can still be seen across much of the eastern U.S., but this smoke remains aloft. Expect a hazy, milky sky along with more colorful sunrises and sunsets as far south as the Gulf Coast.
