Comet C/2025 R3 (PanSTARRS) is brightening as it approaches Earth and should be visible to the naked eye between April 13 and 15, appearing low on the eastern horizon before sunrise. Peak viewing comes around April 17 during a new moon, with the comet making its closest approach to Earth on April 27.
Super Typhoon Sinlaku, the strongest tropical cyclone on Earth this year, tore across the Northern Mariana Islands, a U.S. territory, on Tuesday and Wednesday. It had sustained winds of 150 mph when it made landfall. Preliminary reports mention flooding, uprooted trees and downed power lines across Saipan and Tinian islands. There were no reports of deaths.
