Cameras were rolling as a tornado spun up and struck areas near Rochester, Minnesota, live on The Weather Channel on Friday afternoon. The twister didn’t appear to be actively causing any significant damage at the time, but it was just the first confirmed tornado in a large-scale threat. Rising Rivers Wash Out Michigan Homes, More Storms Expected

It’s going to be a tense weekend for thousands of people in Northern Michigan, heavy rain and rising rivers have already washed out roads, crumbled bridges and pushed into neighborhoods and homes. All eyes are on dams in Cheboygan, Newaygo county. With more severe storms expected across the Great Lakes this weekend, some homes have been evacuated, and Gov. Tornado sirens woke up people in Ann Arbor, Michigan, as severe storms and a now confirmed EF1 twister raked across the city early Wednesday. Massive trees crashed to the ground across the city.
