I grew up as an air force child, traveling and living throughout the US and the world with my parents, and later on my own, so I have a deep appreciation of the global aspect of Wunderground. I am now retired and content to live for many years in one place (a first for me), here at the foot of Hightop Mountain in NC USA. The images I share are from this location, as I discover hidden wonders throughout the four seasons of these Blue Ridge Mountains. My digital camera has opened up the world for me as surely as traveling can, and I am grateful for this wonderful device!

Caption: This old willow tree in front of our house is one of the many casualties of the two-plus days of strong sustained winds here in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It fell right on our house, but due to resting on big branches plunged into the ground, it did not break a window nor damage the roof ~ only the deck it mostly fell on has been slightly damaged. We were lucky!
