Thank you for stating it is HDR. It is the appropriate method for this shot. May the other contributors be forthcoming in their admission (along with photoshop). Glad you also braved some pretty low temperatures to capture the beautiful photograph.

I agree with you about HDR...those always look so unreal with a monotone color cast. But this shot is outstanding. Would never have guessed it was an HDR unless you let the cat out of the bag. Fantastic dynamic range and exposure!!!

Great shot. The composition is excellent. Another trick is to merely shoot in RAW and bring the dynamic range out of the original using Lightroom or Darktable. Most modern digital cameras capture enough dynamic range in an uncompressed image to capture everything in even the most high contrast scenes.

Works of art are not easy to achieve - either on canvas or as a photo, and, just as with canvas, photo sometimes need just a bit more work to become art. There is nothing wrong with this.
