What appears to be a haze in the trees is really pollen. When a breeze would blow, you could see the pale green particles blow off the trees. At first I thought is was smoke.

Nice! This has to be in East Texas. Anywhere west of Houston (IH-45) you don't find many pine trees. We lived near Macon, Ga (Robins AFB) for about 8 years and saw a yellow fog from the pine trees every year about this same time as your pic.
