My husband and I went down to Coney Island. He wanted a Nathan's Famous Hotdog but alas Nathans has been compromised by Superstorm Sandy. It will return this summer. We went down to the beach and there was this plastic palm tree. I couldn't resist.

Great sense of humor (much appreciated by this born-and-raised New Yorker now lost among the palm trees and celebrated plastic of LA)! And thanks for the truth that often goes unrecognized (and even when recognized, unacknowledged): "As a teacher, I love to learn."
