I was able to get down to the beach on Long Beach, Long Island. Going there I passed through the town of Oceanside. Such devastation. I cried as I was my way to Long Beach, which is about 20 minutes from my house. This photo is of a portion of the boardwalk on Long Beach that totally collapsed.

At first glance I though this was a piece of modern art--realism! Then I read the caption. Yes, it is real, all right.

Bursting into tears as the reality of your photography shows the magnitude of the destruction. Even so, the loss of life is always the most heartbreaking!
