thanks! It's been great sharing a nice week of weather with you all. Now it's going to rain for the next five days (snow way up top hopefully). I definitely worked it getting these shots; 11 mile, 5,000' vert ski tour on pockets of creamy sun softened 'corn' snow, tucked away amidst rock hard refrozen snow on steep technical terrain, full early season conditions, me & the mountain, another exhilarating day dancing through the natural art museum. thanks for joining me

I posted two photos of a sky like this, in west-central Ohio on November 25th, 2012, but the scenery beneath was much more bland and mountainless! Aren't skies amazing in their infinite patterns, colors and like-a-fingerprint unique, ever-changing displays! I'm delighted to see that such a "washboard," "herringbone" or "quilt batting" type of sky has been in evidence in other parts of the country! Julie in Ohio

A fine example of Altocumulus Undulatus. I've been a weather geek all my life but just recently (after entering the 50-somethings group) decided to memorize and identify all of the major cloud groups. It would have been easier to do this as a kid as it seems most of my memory cells have probably been surrounded and defeated by ear hair.
