part of the celebrations for Aruba Flag Day tomorrow (their equilvalent of our 4th of July) passing off the beach in front of our studio just before sunset..there were at least 75 surfers under their colorful kites going at great speed in the strong wind and waves..amazing how they traveled so close together and not getting tangled in each other's lines..

Living in the mountains of Western Maine on a 15 acre 'gentleman's farm', in a hand hewn log home, has been a wonderful experience these past 6 1/2 years. The photo ops are virtually unlimited what with the surrounding working farms, dozens of lakes, ponds, and brooks, and thousands of acres of forest. Not to mention our own pond and brooks as well as extensive flower gardens, fruit bushes, vines, and trees. The views of Mt Washington and the Presidentials of NH only add to the drama! Not a bad place to be retired..and I am so glad I can share all of this with the wonderful folks on this great site..it has been a wonderful journey and learning experience thus far..and it's only getting better! |

no, we didn't plan around their National Holiday..just a happy coincidence..everything is closed today..not like the States where EVERYTHING has to be open EVERY minute of every day to keep people happy..it's no wonder they call Aruba "One Happy Island"..they are very content people..very family oriented and very active!! no overweight youngsters here..sports activites are really emphasized..as well as education..everyone speaks at least 2 languages..and many more speak several..
