all this new heavy, wet snow..all 12 inches of it..is now sliding down off the metal roof of the house right over the front entry..it's making an impressive pile which won't be going anywhere for many weeks to come..we have two other entrances/exits which we keep clear of falling snow..

Yikes! Guess you need some kind of diverter right above the entry. Impressive plops of snow, Susan!

It looks like you can still have a winter picnic in the screened in room. A thermos of hot cream of tomato soup, chicken salad sandwiches, and hot coffee or tea. I'll bring the brownies to enjoy in Brownfield. What time shall I be there?

You sound pretty relaxed despite all that snow. Have you ever had to evacuate or do you have back up systems if you lose electricity or whatever? Amid the heavy encroaching snow & sturdy screened in porch, I enjoy the delicate wind chime w. the red cardinal keeping a look-out. Nice of ceocrocker to suggest a remedy. Good luck!

thanks for all your comments!..@Wanderoo we ARE relaxed because 1) we're used to lots of snow here and 2) we're well prepared for it..having a whole house generator eliminates the issue of no electricity, and we have our own spring water well(same aquifer as Poland Springs)so no water issues..and since we're in the mountains, there's no issues with flooding or evacuations..so we wait patiently for Spring..it IS amazing how quickly all this disapprears once the mild weather moves in and Daylight Savings Time begins.. :)

Wow, impressive piles! However - with a generator, water, tomato soup, brownies, and a good book, it looks pretty idyllic to me! Great shot and series!!

About suzi46
suzi46 Living in the mountains of Western Maine on a 15 acre 'gentleman's farm', in a hand hewn log home, has been a wonderful experience these past 6 1/2 years. The photo ops are virtually unlimited what with the surrounding working farms, dozens of lakes, ponds, and brooks, and thousands of acres of forest. Not to mention our own pond and brooks as well as extensive flower gardens, fruit bushes, vines, and trees. The views of Mt Washington and the Presidentials of NH only add to the drama! Not a bad place to be retired..and I am so glad I can share all of this with the wonderful folks on this great site..it has been a wonderful journey and learning experience thus far..and it's only getting better!
