Outstanding!!! One of the most beautiful and intricate flakes I have ever seen (12 point star) ... and an excellent macro. The focus is so crisp. A blue border would complement this nicely.

A tweleve pointed dentrite, pretty uncommon. I would love to hear what your technique was. I looked at the EXIF data and it showes a 48 mm lens. Were you using extension tubes? What was your background? Somekind of glass it looks like. Super job and not an easy photo to take.

Hi LarryD, I used a macro lens that came with my Canon kit that also included a wide angel and a zoom lens as well. It was a great kit for the price. I definitely have enjoyed the macro lens so much over the years. My high tech system consists of a piece of clear glass with a construction clamp on it to hold it with so I don't warm up the glass with my hand. I usually have a flashlight close by in case I need more lighting. I use things like different colored balls, and toys for my background. However, lately I've been just using the blue tarp hanging off my deck with a light behind it for a background. It's such a pretty color blue. After I post the photos to my computer I do crop in on the flake I shot but that's it. Hope that helps. Thanks to all for stopping by I always appreciate hearing from everyone. Happy shooting.

About stoneygirl
stoneygirl My name is Debbie and I live in Central Massachusetts. I am a mom of 2, a grandma to Jace and a "Mama Stone" (as I'm called) to about 25 rental kids as I call them. I consider myself to be a serious maybe even (as all my kids would say, "Obsessed" photographer. If it moves I photograph it, if breaths I photograph it, if it doesn't breath I photograph it and if it doesn't move I photograph it even more. Ok, so my kids are right, I'm obsessed. I never leave home with out it, my camera that is. I've always loved photography but as I've headed into my mid-life crisis period I have begun to open my eyes to more of the wonder around me. Why it took so long I don't know but look out world I have arrived. Now I have a thirst to make up for lost time and I love Wunderground and all of the wunderful photographers I get to share my world with. I absolutely love seeing everyones photos from around the world and for that I thank all of you for your wonderful generosity for sharing them with me and us on this great site. Smile say cheese now!!Large Visitor Globe
