This gives a pretty good view of the landscape of a snowflake and all the etchings that make it so unique and beautiful. Just above the flake you can see another type of flake called a rod. Kind of looks like a nail. The blue color is the reflection of the background in the flake. I just love my blue tarp.

I have a very "high" tech way of shooting snowflakes. I use a piece of glass and a spring clamp to hold it with so my hand temp doesn't warm the glass. I have a macro lens that came with my camera that is just perfect for these shots. One final piece of advice is make sure you're warm because shivering is not conducive to a good shot. LOL. As you can tell I'm actually as low tech as you can get. Mother nature does all the hard work and I just have fun photographing it. Thank you all so much for the wonderful comments and I'm so glad you enjoy my snowflake photo. I love sharing them with everyone.
