It was deafening! We could hear the roar coming but I knew it wasn't wind. I thought perhaps it was extremely heavy rain but I'd never heard anything that loud. First there were a few large drops of rain (the kind that HURT when they hit you) then it was upon us - an absolute wall of hail. It lasted for five minutes.
