Suspect it is heading in for winter lay-up. Watched several head into Duluth within the past week. Grew up in Superior so still have the fascination of watching the big boats. What is the width of the channel there?

As of June 1997 the canal was 7 miles long 125 feet wide and 16½ to 21½ feet deep . A jetty extends into Lake Michigan 1,350 feet and 800 feet wide at the mouth.

Living where I do now, I enjoy your photos, Mike. I grew up in Wilmette, IL, and have driven to Door Co. at least 25 times (always stayed in Sister Bay). My Dad was always interested in seeing Sturgeon Bay, having worked for several years at Grebe Shipyard in Chicago. No boats on the Loire—much too shallow—but France is great!
