In the east, over the garage, wee hours this morning.

This may be my last opportunity for shooting aurora this season, clouds have moved in today and the energy from the sun is fading away.

I never never tire of watching and looking at your photos of the Northern Lights. In 1956 I think it was, there was opportunity for us to see them as far south as here in SC and my Mama told me what it was. I remember going to school and telling my teacher that I saw them and she told me that I could not possibibly have seen them, but she was wrong that time.

Great title and aurora show. So amazing that we can watch all that aurora activity in one frame. Haven't done it, but you must have used the video option while taking the photo. It's brilliant. More natural and a lot quieter than fireworks on the 4th of July! Thank you.

Thank you Wanderoo!

Actually, I used a series of 20 still photos taken in succession, and put them together in a gif file. Wunderground doesn't support video at this time, but they do support animated gif.

Each photo is a 15 second exposure, taken with about a two second delay between frames.

Thank you Betty!

Yes it's neat that the stars shine through. The aurora really have no 'substance,' rather they are energy, from charged particles. And aren't they charged!

Fantastic!

You must have heard all the moaning about our mid-west getting so much snow and cold. I bet you laugh at us 'wimps'!

Greetings from Michigan,

Doerthe

:) You probably get more snow than I do Doerthe, I just keep mine longer!

It is kind of funny to hear the muttering about the cold though! :D
