I retired from the US Forest Service in 2006 after nearly 40 years with the organization.I enjoyed my employment with the organization and served in the capacity as a biologist, scientific illustrator, Creative Services Director, and finished my career as the "Artist-in-Residence at the historic "Grey Towers" in Milford, PA during the restoration of the structure back the the period when Gifford Pinchot, the first Chief of the Forest Service, resided there. I'm primarily a naturalist and artist, but photography has always been a part of my life. My father was a talented photographer and we had a darkroom in our home. So, myself, and brothers and sisters all learned early how to develop and print photographs. We relocated, back to California, in late 2009. I now volunteer at the Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve in Murrieta, CA as a docent taking 3rd-graders out on Nature Hikes during the school year. My hope is to plant a "spark" in a few of these young people that might lead them on a path to seek employment in the Natural Sciences. It is "pay forward," and "give-back" time for me now. I am enjoying it immensely! :)
