I've been in the US Navy for nearly 9 years (Sept 1999). For the first 6 1/2 I was a Weather Tech/Observer stationed in my hometown of Jacksonville,FL. My first tour I was on sea duty. My second tour, I went across the street to the Det and I will always remember the 2004 hurricane season as I felt the affects of Charley, Frances, Ivan (as a low pressure system/nor'easter), and Jeanne. For Frances we manned the weather office for 5 days straight. I observed Tropical Storm force winds for over 12 hrs with a peak of 45G55KT (52G63 mph) and 5+" of rain in heavy squalls particually the night of 9/5/04 when I observed 1/16sm and couldn't see a thing. Frances was faster moving storm and I was there during the height of the storm overnight of the 26th/27th of Sept 2004 with a period of 4-6 hrs of Tropical Storm force winds. A peak of 44G49KT (51G56 mph) was observed. I transfered to AG "C" School (forecasting school) in Oct 2006 and was there for 9 months and graduated with in mid July of this year. I am back on sea duty up here in Norfolk,VA. With my college credits from C school, I have earned by A.A. Degree from FCCJ in Aug 2007.
