Little did I know, we would lose power for almost 24 hours, shortly after I got back from this stormy evening photo shoot! Rain turned to freezing rain, then sleet, then heavy snow! Amazing how we take electricity (and heat) for granted...

Very beautiful wintry scene. Sorry to hear about your 24-hour loss of power/heat. Hope you had some warm clothes to keep out the cold.

My sympathy - went thru that in 2009 with a major ice storm here in KY - no heat/power x 3 days (temps dropped to single digits after the storm came through). Beautiful picture though

About gardner48197
gardner48197 4/2013: Greetings from Michigan, where we get a wide variety of weather changes throughout the four seasons! I originally found this site for the weather, and the photos kept drawing my interest! Decided to get my first digital camera in 2010, and have since upgraded to a Nikon L120/P520, which has helped photography become my favorite hobby! I have always loved the outdoors, and now I have a perfect excuse to get out and explore nature! What a great community here, so many excellent photographers and friends, so little time! I would like to thank everyone who contributes, for all of the great inspiration and feedback! Sometime down the road I would still like to get a DSLR camera, but for now I just I hope to send a small view of life from the Great Lakes State. Home of the Michigan Wolverines! Go Blue! -James
