I had completely forgotten about today's eclipse and went in to Newmarket for coffee with friends. Outside the café there were staff and customers looking skyward. Naturally, I did the same thing. And was SO thankful that I had taken my camera with me to coffee.

Beautiful shot John. Those clouds helped you out. I had similar clouds several months ago when we had a solar eclipse. Thanks for sharing.
Congratulations on the VIP!

Thank you everyone. Tony - I was hoping you would be able to see it. I was lucky being a bit further north. I also could not have done it without the cloud cover. I was just lucky, lucky, lucky!!

Thank you folks.

I'm just glad that I was in a part of the world that this eclipse was visible and, as Greg says, everything lined up so well.

Angela - you are very welcome. :-)

Wow! What a beauty! Can't take my eyes off it.
So glad you caught it. It's perfect and heading to my Favorites.
Good on you, mate. You might consider sending in to the NZ Herald.
Cheers!

Thanks Eileen. Never thought of the Herald. But I think they would have been inundated with eclipse shots. And I'm picking they would have chosen something from Cairns. :-)
