Amazing Picture but yikes, this is like a picture out of time from the Dust Bowl. I recently read The Worst Hard Times. Deja vu.

P.S. Don't breath that dust. That's pretty much how many people ended up with damaged lungs and dust pneumonia. (Not to mention the pesticides and herbicides) .

Thanks Gingy and Ann ! Thankfully we haven't seen too many bad dust storms like the 'dirty thirties' but with the lingering drought - makes one wonder .

Awesome! I hope you got inside in time. I was driving in this from Phoenix, Az. to San Antonio on IH-10. It was really windy/dusty all across from Tucson to about Van Horn, Tx. I also remember a lot of wind and dust when I visited the Lubbock area about this time of the year a while back.

Thanks sassyvintage and Julie ! I guees we'd call it a haboob . I've lived in West Texas all my life and we're so used to dust storms we just call it a typical spring day . A wall of dust this massive was and is usually caused by an outflow from a strong thunder storm .

Wow, Tim, what a terrific weather capture and shot! 10! We had a beautiful Spring day, Sunday with Thunderclouds and a light rain. No winds to speak of. The "Tractor Supply" makes me think of those poor farmers trying to tame the havoc in their fields. Just an incredible capture!

Congratulations on your well deserved VIP!!

I remember a few dust storms when living in Texas. Ironically, I could "taste" it before I knew anything about it coming our way. And the worst was if it rained - it literally rained "mud"

About docshovel39
docshovel39 Hello , my name is Tim . I live in the small farming community of Ropesville , Texas with my wife and photo partner Sherry . I got involved with photography because of my older brother Steve - a fantastic photographer who lives outside of Seattle , WA . My favorite work , apart from his , is a terrific book entitled " Ghosts in the Wilderness " by Tony and Eva Worobiec . It captures the remains of small , abandoned rural communities across the Midwest , much of it shot in black and white . I also have become a fan of photographer Jim McGuire . His black and white shots ( nashvilleportraits.com) are amazing . Thank you for your comments and have a GREAT day !
