Bear Cub ~ Stalk Mode

Uploaded by: dixiedaughter

Friday October 19, 2012

Clarksville, TN (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: It took days but we finally spotted a female bear and her cubs. We returned to the area daily to view them searching for acorns. A very exciting time for me having never captured a bear cub before. Cades Cove is an 11 mile valley surrounded by the Great Smoky Mountains.

Congrats on the AC, Leslie! Glad to see that you are as crazy as I am! We found a bear there and went bounding down through the woods for a closer look and photographs. Only much later, I realized how dangerous this was;-) Nice capture!

Thank you very much and thank you Approvers. I have some pics of momma bear and will post them. She was very near but looking for acorns. We were able to get way too close and should not have I know. Momma bear did growl and charge at us once but luckily wasn't too interested in hurting anyone. On this day, this was my best pic as they stayed in the shadows of the trees most of the time.
