After the demolition of the Old Sunshine Skyway Bridge, the concrete material, deck sections, pilings and steel girders were collected and placed offshore and along the remaining bridge approaches to become artificial reefs.

Many of us have had our most meaningful spiritual experiences in relationship to the environment. Beauty provokes us to transcend our concerns, shortcomings and conflicts. We have heard the voice of God in the woods and waterways, in bird songs or the remarkable delicacy of a flower. Nature reveals God's glory...(Psalm 19). I believe that photography is a form of communication. If it says something worthwhile to the viewers, then it's a success. |

You can also view video of the demolition of the old bridge. On another note, people use this landmark and jump to their death, the latest being a 20 year old this Sunday, June 17, 2012. So sad!
