This is the Huers Hut overlooking Newquay Bay. It dates back to the 14th Century and used by the Huer, who would call on his horn to alert the fisherman in the bay,and with hand signals he would position the fishing boats to encircle the shoals of pilchards that would arrive in the bay at certain times of the year.

This is so cool, Tim! Love being able to "see" wind, one of my favorite aspects of weather. Thank Sam for being such a good sport to give us this fine perspective on this fascinating bit of history, and on the force of that wind!

And I can't forget - this is a beautiful weather shot, too! Love those clouds.

Great image, we can see shoals of Herring from the bay near us, I am sure that out at see they aren't as obvious, most fishermen watch the flocks of birds these days. Congrats on well deserved AC

Thanks everyone for your comments...I was shaking in the cold when I took the picture and poor old Sam nearly lost his hat too. It made a change to be able to take the family with me on the coach.
